Mr. Buttolph’s practice represents diverse individuals, small businesses, and large organizations. His areas of expertise include Commercial Litigation; Business Transactions; Estate Planning and Administration; Real Estate; Intellectual Property; and Labor and Employment.
A counselor in the truest sense of the word, John routinely finds practical, creative, and “real world” solutions to the challenges facing his clients. Due to his even temperament and high ethical standards, he is often sought out to mediate disputes between shareholders, partners, and family-owned businesses.
Mr. Buttolph is a graduate of The Principia in St Louis, Missouri, received his B.A. in American Studies from Amherst College, Amherst, Massachusetts, and a J.D. from the University of Oregon Law School in Eugene. He is admitted to practice before all courts of the State of California, as well as the Central, Southern and Eastern Districts of the U.S. District Court in California.
He and his wife Jeannie make their home in Laguna Beach, California. An avid sports enthusiast, he enjoys tennis, backpacking, snowmobiling, and watching baseball. He loves jazz and the blues, classic movies, spicy food, and spirited conversation.
